Sarah’s Headshots in Charleston, South Carolina | SC Wedding, Portrait, and Lifestyle Photographer
Recently, I traveled to Charleston, South Carolina to speak at the AKP “Charming” Retreat, hosted by Ashton Kelley Photography. I got to spend an amazing six days in my favorite southern city. I loved getting to spend so much time with my good friend Sarah, of Sarah Houston Photography. The retreat was filled with educational, business content, and styled photo shoots. We also enjoyed a “Mad Men” inspired party and late nights where we sat around in pjs and talked about our goals and fears.
As you can imagine with about 20 photographers, a whole lot of photography happened. I got to spend so much time with my sweet Sarah, and so I took a ton of pictures of her! We took photos along Rainbow Row, on the grounds of Boone Hall Plantation, outside of The American Theatre, and at various spots around downtown Charleston! I loved both Boone Hall and Rainbow Row the most because they are so perfect and picturesque! I love how the colors popped in Sarah’s photos! Boone Hall has also been a dream of mine to photograph, so we had a blast visiting the historic venue together! There is definitely more to come from my trip to Charleston, but for now, enjoy some favorites of Sarah and the various headshots I took around our favorite city down south!
On one of the days of the retreat, we made flower crowns! We learned from the fabulous Lauren of Ginger and Blooms on how to create a flourishing and beautiful crown full of gorgeous blooms!
We also visited the famous Pineapple Fountain near the Battery on styled shoot day!
Sarah is such a sweet heart, and I love to her to pieces! She is always patient with me. She answered my questions about shooting film while we were in Charleston! I shot film during this last portion, and I cannot wait to get those scans back!

Romantic Anniversary Session in Harpers Ferry, WV with Destinae + Andrew | West Virginia Anniversary Portrait Photographer
Destinae and Andrew recently celebrated their first marriage anniversary, and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to take some new portraits for them in Harpers Ferry, WV. I love getting to spend time with sweet couples and capturing new memories for them as they approach milestones in their relationships! Destinae and Andrew actually lived next door to us when we lived in our small, fourth-floor, two-bedroom apartment in Ashburn, VA! They had just moved in after we had been there for about a year. We shoveled snow next to each other; we all battled that fourth floor walk-up on the daily, and we shared in our love for puppies! I always knew that these two were an amazing couple, and that was proven through many ways.
After just four months of marriage to one another, Destinae found out that she had breast cancer. While this was devastating news, I think that she knew everything was going to be okay because Andrew would be by her side every step of the way. And it is. After numerous rounds of aggressive chemotherapy, Destinae was recently declared CANCER FREE! How amazing is that?! She and him have had quite the first year of marriage, but they are stronger than most couples are after 30-40 years of marriage! They have seen and experienced so many things that some couples will never have to endure. But she did; they did it together. I am just in awe of these two, her strength…his love for her. I really wanted to do something special for them as they were celebrating so much more than just their first anniversary of marriage…they were celebrating the amazing victory of Destinae beating breast cancer!
Enjoy some favorites from their romantic anniversary session in Harpers Ferry!
These two are so stylish and glam! Destinae looked stunning in this black and gold, sequin dress!
D + A – you are both amazing and strong and phenomenal examples of how love endures all. I’m so proud to know you both, and I hope that you treasure these memories for a lifetime and beyond!

Charleston Engagement Photo Session in South Carolina with Chelsea + Ivan | SC Engagement + Wedding Photographer
Last week, I was in Charleston, South Carolina speaking at the AKP “Charming” Retreat, and I can’t wait to blog more about that real soon! This is a traveling retreat, hosted by Ashton Kelley Photography, and is for photographers at whatever stages in their business who have a passion for learning and creating a community! I love, love, LOVED my time in Charleston, and I was so excited to get a sweet couple in front of my camera for an engagement session before heading home! Chelsea and Ivan are getting married next spring in Antigua! What an exciting location for them to exchange their, “I do’s!”
I have known Chelsea for a few years actually; we met in Virginia Beach at a book club. She and I both moved away from Virginia Beach, but it was so great to get reconnected! I am so honored that I got to have these two in front of my camera! I even took a few frames on film, and I cannot wait to get those scans back! Charleston is a dream location for photography, so mixing both my dream location AND film AND this gorgeous couple…I hope it’s magic! Keep your fingers crossed for me, guys!
Charleston is full of so many gorgeous spots that are perfect for engagement photo sessions! We started along Rainbow Row, specifically meeting along at Longitude Lane! The sun was pouring in, and I love how it perfectly hugged Chelsea and Ivan!
Charleston has my heart for many reasons…but the main reason is probably the fact that their are so many PINK houses and buildings!
We also walked along the Battery, and the weather was just amazing at this point! The breeze was perfect, the waves effortlessly crashed together, and of course these two…I love the way they looked at each other during our session!
Isn’t Chelsea absolutely stunning?!
Fav!!!
I loved their Charleston engagement session, and I am so happy and excited for them to become husband and wife soon!

Harpers Ferry Anniversary Photo Session | Jess + Bob | West Virginia Anniversary Photographer
Jess and Bob recently celebrated three years of wonderful marriage to one another, and they wanted to have pictures taken together to celebrate it!
It was a hot day in Harpers Ferry, but these two showed up with smiles on their faces and ready to rock out a great session!
I met my gorgeous friend, Jess of Jess Creates, through networking and social media. She is an extremely talented graphic designer and stationer, and I have had the pleasure of working with her on personal projects in the past!
A happy surprise………
They’re pregnant!!!!!
I love that their anniversary session turned into a pregnancy announcement! I didn’t know this when Jess initially booked with me, and when we sat down in Panera a few days before this day, she told me the happy news! We both cried happy tears over our salad and sandwiches! It was one of the best moments, and I’ll always remember it!
Jess and Bob are going to make INCREDIBLE parents!
These two wanted to start a family pretty early on in their marriage, but they were faced with difficulties. After years of trying, endless doctor visits, multiple methods, these two are expecting Baby May in November! And I couldn’t be more excited for them!
Jess is such a loving soul; I know she is going to be such a wonderful mother. Bob is amazing and so hard-working, and he will be such a great dad! I can’t wait to meet their little one!
Congratulations again, you two!!! I love you three! Thank you for allowing me to capture such an amazingly special time in your lives!

In-home Lifestyle Family Photos with the Jacksons | Hagerstown, Maryland Lifestyle Photography
Earlier this year, I photographed Jessica and her husband, Justin, at Antietam Battlefield in Sharpsburg, MD before they welcomed their son, Jennings, into the world! You can see their maternity photo session on the blog HERE!
Jennings was born a few months ago, in April, and he is one of the absolute happiest little guys I have ever seen! He was such a little trooper during our session in Hagerstown, MD, and he gave me the sweetest little smiles! It was an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to photograph Jess and Justin again, along with their sweet boy!
I also loved his nursery! Jess worked hard to put together a beautiful, adventure-themed nursery for Jennings. All of the arrow and feather details, as well as gray and gold color scheme, are super cute! It is such a calm environment, and I’m sure Jennings loves it! 😉
This photo is one of my favorites, and it’s a funny one because Jennings spit up on himself and his mama right after this!
Such a cutie pie! When I arrived at their home in Hagerstown, they showed me to Jennings’ nursery. I saw two outfits laying out for their sweet boy, and I was extremely touched that one of the outfits was this onsie with arrows on it. The reason it was touching was because I was the one who gave them that onsie. After their maternity session, I delivered some prints and this little onsie to Jess and Justin. The fact that they wanted this one in their photos meant so much to me and brought some (happy) tears to my eyes!
Jess, Justin, and Jennings – thank you again for allowing me the chance to document your sweet family. It is so important to me, as a mother, to have photos to capture the precious moments of a growing family. I hope you cherish these memories for a lifetime and beyond!
