“Best of 2015” Mini-Blog Series | Engagements + Couples | VA Anniversary and Engagement Photographer

2015 has just been an incredible year! I have gotten to meet, get to know, and photograph so many wonderful couples (engaged, married or dating), and each one of these couples is exactly why I LOVE being a couples and engagement photographer! Photographing the love between two people is just an amazing thing to get to do, and I couldn’t be more grateful that they trusted me to capture some new memories for them! I hope they cherish them forever!

The year started off with Ashleigh and JP in Leesburg, VA. We did their session around Valentine’s Day, and it is absolutely still one of my very favorite sessions! They were just so natural and comfortable with each other in front of the camera, and I can’t wait to get them in front of mine again! This session was recently featured on Lace & Loyalty!

Brittany and Michael’s lifestyle couples’ session is another favorite of mine! It was a bit different for me, as I am used to capturing couples outdoors and with more poses, but mix in lifestyle with a beautiful, newly married couple like these two and pure magic happens! They had a cozy, morning session in Reston, VA at their home, and I loved seeing it featured over on Heart Love Always! Check it out to read more about B + M’s story!

Nikki + Rich celebrated their wedding anniversary with a cute little photo session in Bedford, VA. I created a little pink peony bouquet for her, and I loved that they incorporated special details from their wedding day, like Rich’s cotton boutonniere and the cowboy boots Nikki wore underneath her wedding dress! They were an absolute joy to hang out with and get to know better! 

Jen and Brian got married in Harrisburg, PA this past August. We met in Norfolk, VA for a sunrise engagement session at the place that they first met – the Norfolk Scope Arena! I think it’s great when couples utilize something really special from their story, such as where they met or incorporating some kind of details that are important to them in their everyday lives! Like these two, they not only wanted to have their session at the place they met, but they also brought along props like a kickball and their kickball team shirts because these two love playing kickball together and with their friends! Their engagement photo session is also over on Tidewater & Tulle!

Amber is my beautiful sister-in-law, and I am so excited to be her Matron of Honor (and her photographer) for her wedding next April in Vinton, VA! I shot her and Spencer’s engagement session in Roanoke, VA. We started in Downtown Roanoke at the culinary school where they met, and we walked around the city, exploring the different spots where the light was pouring in just right! We literally ended up IN the Roanoke River, and I just love these two!!!

Anne + Jeff celebrated six years of marriage this past fall, and I loved getting to capture them in their home, as well as under the archway that they were married under! Such a special way to tie both days together! Look for these two on Lace & Loyalty soon!

I’m pretty sure that we had Shannon + Ryan’s engagement session in Downtown Leesburg, VA on the hottest day of the year! Despite the uncomfortable heat, these two absolutely rocked it out and didn’t let a little sweat phase them! Little did they know it would rain all day on their wedding in September in Bedford, VA! 

Megan + Collins are about to welcome their third child, and I was so excited when Megan contacted me to photograph her family and maternity sessions! I photographed this sweet couple and their two girls at the Manassas National Battlefield, and it was such a gorgeous evening! Photographing these two, especially with Megan in a blush pink gown and flower crown (!!!) was just a dream, and these two have a pretty special feature coming out next month!!!

Steffi is a fellow photographer, and her family recently moved to the states from Germany! What an absolute honor it was for me to get to photograph her and her family in Leesburg, VA, at one of my absolute favorite venues to shoot at – 48 Fields!

Erin + Rob’s session is featured over on Pretty Pear Bride! Yay!

The Johnson family was my last session of the year, and they were SO much fun to photograph! We met up at a little spot in Ashburn, VA and we really lucked out with the weather (especially with it being December)! We had to reschedule so many times due to Virginia’s unpredictable cold-hot-rainy-cold-hot weather we’ve been having lately, but I finally got to capture them! Kristin is just gorgeous, and I am just so excited that I got to capture this growing family and end my year just perfectly!
